Monument Valley is home to a splendid variety of rocks, buttes, and mesas. This Navajo Tribal Park has become one of my favorite places to visit in the American Southwest. After driving alongside dusty dirt roads, I came across this scene of sunlight striking a pile of red rocks. What struck me was not just the harmony of reds and purple hues, but also the audible silence of this moment.
